Blind voting

When getting a sense of the general climate of opinion in a group, it can be valuable if young people close their eyes before raising their hands to signify their view of the topic under discussion. This decreases the possibility that certain individuals will simply go with the crowd, or vote the way a particular other person votes, rather than think for themselves.
